ARTIST’S STATEMENT:
I’m fascinated by color, form, and pattern. From the grandest cloud formation to the smallest petal of a wild flower, I always see the inherent design in nature around me as if through a view finder. I’m compelled to record the emotions I feel when the sun lights up a leaf or when a cat gazes my way. There are endless interesting subjects just waiting for me to take notice.
I am a painter of oils, acrylics, and watercolor. I envision an outcome but never plan too far ahead, attempting to manipulate the images away from reality but not to the point of abstraction.
My work is stylized and untraditional. After establishing a strong composition with light and shade, I like playing with color and taking liberties with my choices.
I try to use cheerful themes as a basis for my work, hoping to portray the beauty I see in this world and share it with those who might feel the same way I do about the wonder of nature.
