ARTIST STATEMENT:
Kynard’s desire for creativity began at an early age in Detroit, Michigan. Drawing caricatures of his teachers and classmates sometimes got him into trouble, but sharpened his eye for detail and accurate forms. With the support and encouragement of his family and friends, his expressions and interpretations of many art forms developed into a continuous educational forum for all people. Music as an influence is highly visible in Kynard’s art. Music has helped set many of the rhythmic patterns that flow throughout the composition on Kynard’s canvases.
Kynard received his formal training in art from Eastern Michigan University and California State University Los Angeles. His prestigious showings have been held throughout California, Georgia, and Michigan. Kynard has also extensively studied graphic, interior, and environmental designs which extend the variations of his artistic agenda.
Kynard captures the true African heritage through art forms and customs relinquished by forefathers and merged with everyday life situations happening throughout the world. His passion for color and detail demonstrate his appreciation for third world cultures and symbols. A sense of melodious movement is ever present in the captivating rhythms which come alive on his canvas. Therefore, the popularity of this upcoming artist has placed his works in outstanding galleries and fine art collections throughout the country. Kynard continues to analyze the world around him through the stroke of his brush to bring the many viewers pleasure through his artistic expressions of the world in which we live.
