ARTIST STATEMENT AND BIO:
TRUDY WASNEY CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS
Trudy Wasney earned a BA in Psychology and a Ph.D. in Educational Policy Analysis from UCLA. She enjoyed a career as an educational researcher and program evaluator for a large urban school district, and served on advisory committees with the California Department of Education. Beginning in 1999, she renewed a childhood interest in art by taking classes with Southland artists Craig Antrim, Lowell Nickel, and Harrison Storms. She paints primarily large-scale works in acrylic on canvas depicting urban landscapes, water scenes, and still life. "After thoroughly exhausting my left brain in my former life, I am joyfully nurturing my right brain by returning to my childhood passion- - -art. My paintings record special moments of splendid light, color and composition--no underlying metaphysical meaning. No hidden socio-political messages. No communion with the cosmos. No gut-wrenching angst I’m working through. Just snippets of life that give me pleasure and I would like to share with the viewer". |
