ARTIST STATEMENT:
Disappointed with the selection of necklaces at the usual department stores, I started designing and beading my own jewelry. Coming from a creative background of 22 years in advertising, I have developed a sense of what catches the eye and stands out from the crowd. I became attracted to ethnic jewelry - with it’s sense of tradition and history...and love that they had a story to tell. I have also drawn my inspiration from my grandmother’s jewelry who was a Choctaw Indian. And from that grew my company’s name GEMSTORY.
As a member of the Palos Verdes Art Center, I have sold pieces at the Small Treasures juried show and Off The Wall exhibit.
My pieces can be found at The Artists’ Studio in the Palos Verdes Village, at the Point Vincente Interpretive Museum, in Redondo Beach at the Welcome Cafe and in Long Beach at Indulgence Spa and Salon and Long Beach Arts Gallery.
When I look at the beauty of these pieces, I feel a sense of joy and wonderment. A connection to spirituality.
